Henrietta’s Dream: Honoring Hadassah’s Founder

  • April 2026

Two hundred fifty Hadassah members from throughout the Hadassah Florida Atlantic Region recently held a multi-faceted celebration at Benvenuto Restaurant, Boynton Beach. Festivities were led by Susan Wakshul, president of Hadassah Florida Atlantic Region, and Fashion Show and Luncheon co-chairs Jill Davis, VP of Programming, and Donna Graham, VP of Philanthropy

Video greetings from Prof. Yoram Weiss, director general of Hadassah Medical Organization, side by side with Isaac Herzog, president of the State of Israel, praised Hadassah for its efforts to provide safe underground medical facilities for war wounded and civilians. In multiple video recordings, Barbara Sofer, Hadassah Israel director of PR and communications, a noted journalist and author, told of the efforts of Hadassah’s founder, Henrietta Szold, to provide medical care and a haven for youth in pre- and post-state Israel. Sofer then treated event attendees to a costumed monologue as Henrietta Szold, who founded Hadassah in 1912.

Attendees celebrated the 24 women selected by their chapters as award recipients of the first Fulfilling Henrietta’s Dream Awards for having demonstrated as volunteers the attributes of Henrietta Szold.

Festivities continued with a Fashion Show, with Hadassah members wearing clothing from sportswear to dresses and gowns.
