Last month the community gathered at Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens for a deeply moving and inspiring program featuring Rebecca Koltun, a 26-year-old quadriplegic who was paralyzed from the neck down following a tragic ski accident nearly five years ago. The evening began with opening remarks from Rabbi Yisroel Uzvolk, director of CTeen, who welcomed the crowd and set the tone for a meaningful and impactful program.
Rebecca shared her powerful journey from the day of her accident through the present, using photos, videos, and her signature dark humor to tell a story of courage, resilience, and determination to live life to the fullest despite the challenges she faces. Her presentation moved many in the audience to tears while also leaving them inspired by her strength and outlook. Guests were also able to view and purchase Rebecca’s stunning artwork, which she creates by painting with her mouth.
The evening was especially meaningful as Rebecca’s grandparents, beloved community members Helen and Warren Alleck, were present, and the support and love from their friends was deeply felt throughout the room. Rebecca’s father also shared heartfelt reflections about the family’s journey and the challenges and growth that have come with it.

Following her presentation, Rebecca engaged in a Q&A session with the audience that could easily have gone on for hours, as the crowd was captivated by her life story, perspective, and remarkable accomplishments.
This special event, a collaboration between Mishpacha at Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens and CTeen, was attended by many teens who were profoundly impacted by Rebecca’s message. Her story beautifully embodied the powerful Jewish mindset that, with determination and the willingness to try, one can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.
