Judea Celebrates Purim with Joy, Purpose, and Community Spirit

  • April 2026

This Purim, the congregation of Temple Judea gathered with both celebration and intention, choosing to honor the holiday with the same spirit that has sustained the Jewish people through centuries of challenge and triumph.

With hearts heavy in awareness that many children in Israel would not have the opportunity to don costumes or dance this year, Temple Judea families came together anyway — because, as the congregation knows well, Jews find joy even in darkness and defy adversity with resilience.

The festivities were made possible through the dedication of school parents, who coordinated and ran a lively carnival that filled the synagogue with laughter, color, and the sounds of graggers stamping out Haman’s name. Children twirled in their costumes, shared hamantaschen, and participated in the reading of the Megillah — connecting them to a tradition thousands of years in the making.

In a crowd-pleasing highlight, the rabbi served as the dunk tank’s one and only target, taking the plunge again and again for the sheer delight of the children — a reminder that the best leaders aren’t afraid to make a splash.
