Volunteers from TJ Palm Beach Gardens regularly serve the unhoused community of Palm Beach County, ensuring dozens of people at The Lords Place in West Palm Beach have a hot meal. The Lord’s Place’s Cafe Joshua offers meals in a style that preserves the dignity of its guests. The Lord’s Place also offers job training and pathways out of homelessness with kindness and care.
Temple Judea’s volunteer and advocacy efforts are inspired by the wisdom of our tradition, which teaches, “It is not your responsibility to finish the work of perfecting the world, but you are not free to desist from it.” Together, they put study into action through acts of tzedakah, acts of righteousness, so that together, as a community, they do their part toward tikkun olam, healing the world.
Temple Judea’s ongoing Social Action Initiative and Tikkun Olam Team include volunteering at Feeding Hope Village, making thousands of sandwiches for St. George Table, food drives, blankets of love made for children’s hospitals and various shelters, reading to kindergartners in Title 1 schools, and more. This year, they are proud to include a unique opportunity for high schoolers to make a real impact by traveling to the Dominican Republic for a week to help to rebuild a local community.
