Alpert Jewish Family Service recently hosted a Back-to-School Giveaway at its West Palm Beach office, providing free backpacks, school supplies, and uniforms to approximately 35 students and their families from across Palm Beach County. The kids are all part of the nonprofit’s Mentoring 4 Kids (M4K) program.
Mentoring 4 Kids matches children ages 6 to 14 with carefully screened and trained mentors following the loss of a significant caregiver through death or divorce. Through consistent one-on-one relationships, mentors provide guidance, encouragement, friendship, and a dependable source of support during a time of significant change in a child’s life.
The program is designed to help children build confidence, strengthen social and emotional skills, and feel less alone as they navigate grief, family transitions, and the everyday challenges of growing up. The Back-to-School Giveaway is one of the many ways M4K supports children and caregivers during important moments, helping families begin the school year with the resources they need and giving students the confidence to walk into the classroom feeling prepared.
