Temple Israel Announces New Cantorial Leadership Team

  • June 2026

Cantor Shira Ginsburg

Temple Israel is embarking on a new chapter in its worship and musical life, welcoming a distinguished team of cantorial leaders who will introduce the congregation to a rich variety of musical styles, spiritual voices, and worship experiences throughout the coming year.

The new worship leadership team will collaborate closely with Rabbis Ryan Daniels and Carlie Daniels across Shabbat services, holidays, and special congregational experiences, creating opportunities for Temple Israel’s community to engage with a range of music styles and voices, as well as the evolving spirit of contemporary Jewish worship.

            The new cantorial team includes:

            • Cantor Shira Ginsburg: A dynamic cantor, actress, singer, and songwriter whose work bridges sacred music and the performing arts, she will serve as visiting cantor in residence throughout the year on Shabbat and holidays. Cantor Ginsburg is now cantor emerita and served for 18 years as senior cantor of East End Temple in New York City, where she developed a co-clergy model and shaped a culture of prayer, music, and community. A graduate and ordained cantor of Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, she brings both artistic excellence and spiritual depth to her work.

Cantor David Goldstein

            • Cantor David Goldstein: With more than five decades of service to the cantorate, having led congregations in New Orleans, Atlanta, Buffalo, and Chicago, Cantor Goldstein will serve as Temple Israel’s High Holy Day cantor and will be in residence from Selichot to Yom Kippur. A graduate of the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion, he also holds advanced degrees in voice, drama, and communications. An accomplished performer, he has appeared as a soloist with orchestras throughout North America and Israel.

Student Cantor Daveed Ben-
Arie

            • Student Cantor Daveed Ben-Arie: A rising second-year student at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Ben-Arie is a New York City-based artist who has led services in communities across Miami, New Jersey, and New York, including at The Shul of Bal Harbour, Young Israel of Bal Harbour, Chabad House at Rutgers University, and Chabad at New York University.

Jedidiah Maness

            • Jedidiah Maness: Temple Israel welcomes back Maness as music director. Maness is known for his thoughtful, warm, and versatile approach to worship music. He is a professional pianist, accompanist, and collaborative musician based in Palm Beach County, with more than a decade of experience in performance, worship, and education across a wide range of faiths.

“We are so looking forward to welcoming in our cantorial team this season, allowing our temple community to experience the richness and diversity of today’s cantorate while also giving us the opportunity to reflect more deeply on Temple Israel’s unique worship culture and vision for the future,” said Rabbi Ryan Daniels. “We are excited to welcome such extraordinary spiritual and musical leaders into our community.”

Rabbi Carlie Daniels added, “Our worship experience has always centered around connection, meaning, and community. This approach allows us to embrace fresh voices and experiences while continuing to create the warm, spiritually grounded environment our congregation values so deeply.”
