  • June 2026

Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service will host free monthly Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) trainings at the Recovery Community HUB of Riviera Beach. Open to the public, the classes are designed to equip adults with essential skills to recognize and respond to signs of mental health and substance abuse challenges.

The monthly sessions are made possible through a partnership between Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service, the City of Lake Worth Beach, the Drug Abuse Foundation, and The Recovery Community HUB of Riviera Beach.

Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based public education program that teaches participants how to identify the signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, provide nonjudgmental support and reassurance, and connect individuals with appropriate professional resources and services.

“Mental Health First Aid teaches people how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance abuse challenges — something I believe all of us can benefit from,” said Courtney Marx, MHFA program director at Alpert JFS. “These community classes are designed to make MHFA accessible to anyone and everyone. Whether you are a parent, co-worker, friend, teacher, or someone who regularly interacts with others, the skills learned in these courses are invaluable.”
