Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens recently hosted a screening of the newly released film The Prophet. Producer and Director Melissa Francis and star Erez Eshel introduced the movie and shared their inspiration for its creation.
Francis, an energetic and dedicated communicator, has used her platform and storytelling background to confront misinformation and bring clarity to complex global issues. Though she isn’t Jewish, she is using her talent to positively influence social consensus on Israel and world Jewry. Eshel is a reserve colonel in the Israel Defense Forces who has served with distinction while pioneering training and humanitarian initiatives. Though he was targeted by the International Criminal Court and anti-Israel voices in the U.S. Congress, he remains committed to bringing peace and security to Israel.
Drawing upon her extensive experience as a war correspondent, television news anchor, and actress, Francis intertwines a love of Israel, the horrors of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent hostility directed toward the Jewish state. The film focuses on Erez’s life story, building upon earlier documentaries about his leadership and highlighting his more recent experiences. Footage of combat, training, and family life is artistically interwoven, drawing the audience into the challenges Israel has faced since its battle for independence.
