More than 40 men gathered at Chabad of Palm Beach Gardens for a Men’s Club farbrengen filled with brotherhood, inspiration, and plenty of l’chaims.

Rabbi Yisroel Uzvolk led the crowd in stirring chasidic niggunim, filling the room with soulful song, while Rabbi Dovid Vigler inspired the men with stories, humor, and spiritual anecdotes centered around the power of the number 40.

Rabbi Vigler explained that the number 40 appears again and again throughout Jewish history. Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai, Noah’s flood lasted 40 days, the Jewish people journeyed through the desert for 40 years, and our sages teach that it can take 40 years for a student to fully grasp the depth of his teacher’s wisdom. Even the development of a child in the womb reaches a crucial stage at 40 days. Moses, Rabbi Akiva, and Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai each began transformative new chapters of their lives at age 40.

Forty, Rabbi Vigler explained, represents transformation: enough time to move beyond an old pattern and begin forging a new one. With exactly 40 days from the farbrengen until Yom Kippur, he challenged every man in the room to choose one meaningful resolution and practice it consistently for the next 40 days. Become a better husband. A better father. A better Jew. A better version of the person you know you can be.

As always at Men’s Club, dinner was served, the l’chaims flowed, and the atmosphere was warm, joyful, and filled with friendship.
